Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) are sensations that occur when a person is unconscious and in a life-threatening condition. A NDE sensation includes out-of-body experiences (OBEs). An OBE is an experience of consciousness (awareness & perception) floating outside the physical body. Are OBEs hallucinations or can human consciousness occur outside the physical body? NDEs provide evidence that human consciousness can occur outside the physical body. This evidence can be outlined in three steps: [1] The person has a NDE with an OBE. [2] The person acquires information about the physical environment. [3] The acquired information could not have been obtained by the physical senses. These cases are referred to as “veridical NDEs”. There are hundreds of veridical NDEs in near-death literature. Materialism is the belief that everything in the universe is physical matter. Materialism claims that human consciousness is physical matter (i.e., the brain). This means that human consciousness must be confined to the physical body. NDEs prove that human consciousness can occur outside the physical body. This means that materialism is false; human consciousness is not physical matter.
Veridical NDE Cases
1. A man had a NDE with an OBE during cardiac arrest at a hospital. The man acquired information about a 1985-quarter on top of an 8-foot-high cardiac monitor. The man could not have obtained this information with his physical senses. The 1985-quarter was outside the range of his physical senses.
2. A woman had a NDE with an OBE during cardiac arrest at a hospital. The woman acquired information about a 12-digit serial number on top of a 6-foot-high respirator. The woman could not have obtained this information with her physical senses. The 12-digit serial number was outside the range of her physical senses.
3. A woman had a NDE with an OBE during cardiac arrest at a hospital. The woman acquired information about a red shoe located on the roof of the hospital. The woman could not have obtained this information with her physical senses. The red shoe was outside the range of her physical senses.
4. A man had a NDE with an OBE during cardiac arrest at a hospital. The man acquired information about mannequins in a nurse-training center above his hospital room. The man could not have obtained this information with his physical senses. The mannequins were outside the range of his physical senses.
5. A woman had a NDE with an OBE during cardiac arrest at a hospital. The woman acquired information about a nurse shattering a glass-necked vial of medicine with her hands in an adjacent hospital room. The woman could not have obtained this information with her physical senses. The nurse was outside the range of her physical senses.
Miracle Claims
A miracle is an event that is an exception to the laws of nature (i.e., a naturally impossible event). Miracle claims provide evidence that miracles occur. Miracle claims can be outlined in three steps: [1] A person with a physical ailment is prayed for in the name of Jesus Christ. [2] The physical ailment is healed. [3] The healing is an exception to the laws of nature. There are hundreds of miracle claims with medical evidence in Christian literature. Naturalism is the belief that only natural laws operate in the universe. Miracle claims prove that exceptions to the laws of nature occur. This means that naturalism is false. Miracle claims with evidence are only associated with Christianity. This proves the truth of Christianity and Jesus Christ. The claims below are confirmed by medical documentation. The medical documentation is included in this project.
Miracle Claims
1. Bruce was crushed under a 6-ton truck. His chest, abdomen, and pelvis were smashed under the front axle. Five major arteries were severed. Bruce was admitted to the hospital. Bruce’s small intestines were partially removed. Bruce had 3 feet 10 inches of small intestines after surgery. Bruce was estimated to die in 1.5 years due to the shortened small intestines. Bruce was prayed for in the name of Jesus Christ. Bruce felt a shock of electricity go through his body. Bruce felt as if a snake was uncoiling in his stomach. Subsequent examination revealed that his intestines had grown from 3 feet 10 inches to 8 feet 11 inches. This is naturally impossible. A small intestine that has been cut in surgery cannot regrow. The shortened length of Bruce’s intestines was medically confirmed during four previous surgeries. The increased length of Bruce’s intestines was medically confirmed during surgery after the prayer.
2. Christopher was born with chronic pseudo-obstruction syndrome. This is a lifelong condition that paralyzes the stomach and intestines. Christopher was unable to digest nutrients. Feeding tubes were directly connected to his intestines. Tubes were put in his stomach to pump out bile and saliva. Christopher was prayed for in the name of Jesus Christ. Christopher felt a shock of electricity go through his body. The tubes in his body began vibrating. Subsequent examination revealed that his condition had disappeared. This is naturally impossible. Chronic pseudo-obstruction syndrome is a lifelong condition.
3. Marolyn was blind due to macular degeneration. Her vision was 7/200. Marolyn was prayed for in the name of Jesus Christ. Marolyn’s vision was instantly restored. Her vision became 20/40 with correction. This is naturally impossible. Macular degeneration results in permanent blindness.
4. Greg was blind due to macular degeneration. His vision was 20/200. Greg prayed in the name of Jesus Christ. Greg’s vision was instantly restored. His vision became 20/30 without correction. This is naturally impossible. Macular degeneration results in permanent blindness.
5. Barbra suffered from multiple sclerosis. Barbra’s right lung was nonfunctional. Barbra’s left lung operated at less than 50%. Barbra used a tracheostomy tube to breath. Barbra had a catheter and ileostomy bag for bodily waste. Barbra was legally blind. Barbra was unable to walk. Barbra’s muscles and joints were contracted and deformed. Barbra’s fingers and feet were flexed in a downward position. Barbra was prayed for in the name of Jesus Christ. Barbra’s multiple sclerosis instantly disappeared. Barbra’s deformed and ailing body instantly became normal and functional. This is naturally impossible. Barbra’s bodily condition could not have naturally improved.
The Shroud of Turin
The Shroud of Turin is a linen cloth bearing a bodily image of a scourged and crucified man. The body image cannot be recreated despite hundreds of thousands of hours of scientific experimentation. This is due to many unique characteristics of the image. The image color (dark sepia) is composed of chemically altered cellulose of the linen fibers. The color on each fiber is only as deep as the primary cell wall (0.0002 mm). The image darkness is correlated to the distance between the cloth and a human form wrapped inside the cloth (shorter = darker). This is known as three-dimensional information. There is image coloration that corresponds to skeletal structures of a human. This includes hand bones, skull bones, and teeth. Naturalistic image-formation hypotheses fail to explain all the image characteristics. These hypotheses include contact, gas, painting, powder, bas-relief, rubbing, proto-photo, shadow, and corona discharge. The painting hypothesis claims that an artist painted the image. An artist is unable to paint the image since all liquid substances penetrate the primary cell wall of the fibers. In addition, an artist using hand/eye/brain coordination cannot recreate the three-dimensional information. This is confirmed by scientific studies. The only hypothesis that can explain all the image characteristics is radiation emitted vertically from a human body. This hypothesis can be outlined in three steps: [1] The atoms in the body break apart into electrons, protons, and neutrons. [2] The electrons move vertically to the surface of the body. [3] A corona discharge occurs between the body surface and cloth. The corona discharge is homogenously and vertically emitted. The energy required to produce the body image: 100 million volts. The only naturalistic source of this amount of energy is a lightning bolt. A lightning bolt could not have been involved in image formation since it would have damaged the cloth. These evidences are why many believe the image formed during the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is an event in which the body of Jesus supernaturally disappeared. The gospels claim that the body of Jesus was wrapped inside a linen cloth during the Resurrection.
There are many additional evidences that link the Shroud to Jesus Christ. The Shroud dates to the time of Christ. This is confirmed by four scientific dating methods. The gospels claim that Jesus was crucified, scourged, crowned with thorns, and pierced in his side. The wounds on the body image correspond to these forms of punishment. The gospels claim that the death and burial of Jesus occurred in Jerusalem, Israel. The majority of pollen species on the Shroud grow in Israel and its neighboring countries. There is pollen from a plant species only found in Israel, Jordan, and Sinai: Zygophyllum Dumosum. Flowers were placed inside the Shroud during burial. Flower images were produced when the imaging phenomenon occurred. There are images of 17 species of flowers on the Shroud. There is only one location in the world where this combination of plant species grows; an 18-mile region between Jerusalem, Israel and Hebron, Israel. There is dirt on the feet, nose, and left knee of the body image. The dirt has the same chemical signature as dirt from Jerusalem, Israel. This chemical signature has only been found in Jerusalem, Israel. This is because dirt in Jerusalem contains a rare form of limestone known as Travertine Aragonite. There is a unique stitch pattern on the Shroud. This stitch pattern has only been found at the Jewish fortress of Masada in Israel. Coins were placed inside the Shroud during burial. Coin images were produced when the imaging phenomenon occurred. There are images of Pilate coins on the Shroud. These coins were minted in 29 AD by Pontius Pilate in Israel. The probability that the coin images are a coincidence: 1 in 8 Million. The Shroud of Turin is proof of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
